Ford’s Drive In

I used to run over there with my friends sometimes when we went to West Junior High School….I am very grateful they are still around if not much else is…

Whether it comes from a fast food chain or a hometown diner, it’s easy to get a burger in Great Falls…and according to a national magazine you can get the best burger in Montana at Ford’s Drive-In.

The Food Network Magazine, in their June-July issue, features a list of the best burger in each state, and Ford’s Drive-In, right here in Great Falls, is home to Montana’s. The eatery has been locally owned since 1954, and that consistency is what employees say keeps customers coming back.

Manager Kayla Taylor explained, “It’s the best burger. We’ve never changed it. We still put on ketchup, mustard, mayo, lettuce, tomatoes, onions and pickles.”

And the old-fashioned classics aren’t just a favorite of the locals – the restaurant has fans all across the country who stop by every chance they get.

“There’s a lady that comes up every Summer for California and she comes every time she’s in town. Some lady just called from Virginia today and said she was excited that we got this, and she’s going to be coming this summer and is going to come visit us,” said Taylor.

She also notes that the family atmosphere and piping hot food sets Ford’s apart from the chains: “We cook to order, so we don’t have any food just out. We don’t cook our fries and then just hand them out. All of our burgers are made to order and everything is fresh.”

Customers say nothing beats Ford’s window service or the quality of their meals. One happy customer said, “It’s homemade, and the beef (is) from Vaughn. Trying to keep it local.”

Not only is it the Food Network’s best burger in MT, but it’s also a pretty good bargain: a cheeseburger deluxe will only set you back $3.10.

Ford’s is located on Central Avenue West, and their menu has a variety of American cuisine ranging from pork sandwiches to German chocolate milk shakes.

  1. I recall Ford’s, but also loved the “flying pizza burgers” at the Burger Master.

    • I sure miss the Ramp Burgers!
